Good Night and Good Luck

Hey fellow studiers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exams are tommorow, why am I not surprised? The school board is against me, why can't exams be over by now? Oh well, enough whining. METRIC IS COMING TO TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I HAVE THE GOLDEN TICKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, well technically, it's paper and ink, but still, HUZZAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if third time's a charm, it's gonna be the best concert in rock history seeing as everytime I've seen them, they/Emily Haines have/has been amazing, I AM FUCKING READY TO GET PISSED OFF AND BADMOUTH THOSE GOVERNMENT FUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOOM SHICKA BOOM SHICKA BOOM BOOM BOOM SHILANG SHILANG BOOM SHILANG SHILANG BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking of the government, tonight is election night. So get out those WE'RE #1 finger handy thingamajigs and start cheering for the "Thrilling conclusion*" (*quote from a CTV ad, I guess the election coverage has become their most popular progam) (OOOOO BURN!!!) (I am bad!!!!) Anyways... GO NDP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways, this weekend I went to my favourite theatre (the Mayfair) and saw "Good Night and Good Luck" and "A History of Violence" one of the best four hours spent in a movie theatre in a very long time. Both movies were excellent, however, they were definitely not similar to eachother, "Good Night and Good Luck", is a docudrama filmed in black and white, about communist fear and McCarthyism in the early fifties, and a small group of broadcasters in the CBS studios who fought against McCarthy by revealing evidence and the emmense problems of the anti-communist system on a Tuesday night tv show. It was very well directed and acted, and a very strong comment on the similarly ridiculous fear today of arabic people. The similarities of George Bush and Joseph McCmarthy are quite obvious as we hear trials of suspected communists and the like. And being a budding socialist myself, I found the film extra interesting.
The second film, "A History of Violence", was, well, very very violent, more than I'm used to viewing (which is alot saying) but at the same time, completely amazing. Now, I know if I reveal anything about the story in this, I'll have an instant bounty on my head, so I'll talk about the style only. I could hardly blink throughout the whole movie, I had to catch every word, and see every detail (uuuggghhh) it was quite amazing, wow, bang, swoosh, the acting was amazing, and the style made me afraid of what would happen to every character, even the mean ones.
For those readers that aren't familiar with the Mayfair theatre, it is down on Bank Street, and has been around since 1932, It's interior is ginormous, not wasting time on a large lobby, all the space goes into the theatre itself, it specializes in good cinema, though not only obscure. It has the latest good hollywood movies, as well as great movies which the large theatres were stupid enough to not play. watching a film there is an experience in it's own as the theatre has been kept much the same as it was in 1932 with the exception of new surround sound and more comfortable seats(although a few original seats remain, for nostalgia). Like the old days of cinema, you pay for a ticket to go into the theatre, when you leave is up to you. Meaning that they show two different movies a night, and people often stay in the theatre after the first feature to view the second, this is the way to get the whole Mayfair experience. Definitely check some movies out there.
Well, syanara, gone to study, bye.

Hoofdpagina

Hey true believers!!!!!!!!!!!
What's new? I finally got a chance to post, albeit while in the computer lab for geography, but, you know, meh. I think Friday the thirteenth is now my lucky day, not one bad thing has happened today, but, enough about me (et tu Brutes???) I'm happy. So ya, if you want to go to the same website as me at the moment, click http://www.statcan.ca/english/freepub/11-516-XIE/sectionn/sectionn.htm, ok? Yep, boring, but I'm optimistic. Well, keep reading applegeeks, cause it's good, and rent the Firefly series on DVD, you won't be disappointed in the slightest. And ya, watch Fargo, it's a good movie, oh, and read this blog of course (or don't).

Hate to Say I Told You So- The Hives

Bonjour tout le monde!!!!
I'm good, thanks for asking. Anyways, been really tired lately so I'm watching alot more movies than usual, so ya, it seems winter is the season in which I spend the most money on entertainment, for instance, in the last month I've already seen Harry Potter 4, King Kong, Fun With Dick and Jane, and I'm seeing another movie this week, not to mention all the dvd rentals. And somehow I still find time for a social life. Well, I'm gonna go watch a movie.

Lost in the Supermarket- The Clash

Hey to the 2006 generation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's new? Woke up at 12 today so I'm pretty sure I had a good time last night. Anyways, the holiday season is over, but we've still gota week left, which will unfortunatley for me, be mostly doing homework, but you know, whatever. So yeah, I've realised lately that there's alot of good comics on the internet, if you look hard enough. For instance, I've discovered a great comic named http://www.applegeeks.com/index.php?comic=1 applegeeks, which has been going since 2003, though it's art style is really different now, but definitely check it out. Anyways, bye.
